DocKLucas seems appropriate as a site/blog that zigzags into an eclectic mix of interests from touch to education, and environmental to health concerns.

Our dock.

I have my doctorate in education. I am a special education teacher full time and adjunct at the university level. I am an LMT (licensed massage therapist) and believe in the power of touch and intuition. I support world environmental and health organizations.

Education

School begins soon. This is my last year to teach at the elementary level (24th year). I plan to retire from teaching elementary special education at the end of this school year. I am half in person and half online. I am also teaching 1.5 courses at the University of Iowa-Special Education Literacy and Assessment. My anxiety and excitement are setting in. I plan to write regularly on different topics within education.

In-touch

I am a licensed massage therapist, licensed in Iowa since 2002. I need to determine how to use state reciprocity in order to get my massage license in Florida for next year. I actually went to massage school in St. Augustine, Florida in 2000-2001, passing MBLEX. I plan to write regularly as I learn more in my practice and study in this chosen field.

Misc

My husband, Fred, and I recently purchased our retirement home in Crystal River, Florida. We will move down next year (2022), and plan to summer in Iowa! While on the dock, a manatee swam by in the canal. We look forward to this next phase of our lives. My hope is to work or volunteer with manatees, environmental concerns, and to live our best lives!
